Nia Gould Studio
Hello, I am Nia
I run Niaski, my own design studio business from my home in Devon, UK.
I’ve been interested in design and illustration for as long as I can remember. I started designing professionally in 2001 and graduated with a first-class degree in Graphic Design in 2008 from Falmouth, a university renowned worldwide for art, design and media.
I worked as a Design Manager for an Arts venue in Exeter, Devon for 10 years, during this time I setup my own business Niaski, selling prints, cards, enamel pins, bags and gifts.
Niaski focuses on two of my biggest passions, art and cats and the cats play a big part in the inspiration behind the business.
The history of Niaski
I love cats… its probably quite obvious by now, I also really like to rescue them and I try to only adopt. I adopted this beautiful black and white cat with magnificent moustache markings in white and I just knew he would be called Salvador after Salvador Dali, this then created a bit of trend and I have since adopted Frida (Catlo) and Pablo (Picatso). I was already a Graphic Designer at this point working for other people but it wasn’t until I took a screen printing course in 2015 that my business really began. I created two designs to use on the course, a Salvador Catli cat face and a Frida Catlo… and the rest is history as they say. My Frida bags were such a big hit that people were buying them from me straight off the course, I then created an Etsy shop and have since been stocked in various shops and galleries all over the world.
Editorial, commercial & children's books
It’s not all cats… I have been working for publishers both in the UK and USA on several books for young adults and children for the past 4 years.
